Phase-Change Memory

IBM has announced advances in future memory technology called Phase-Change Memory. IBM claims its memory technology could be up to 50 times faster than Flash memory and therefore could not only replace the growing market for Flash storage memory as seen in the iPod nano and in USB drives, but due to the speed could possibly replace computer DRAM memory as well. The ability to scale to very high capacities at a low cost are the interesting characteristics of the new technology.
