ExpressCard

Apple uses PC Cards with the Cardbus standard in their 15 inch and 17 inch models. This standard came out back in the late 90s and is soon to be updated with ExpressCard. ExpressCard is based on the PCI Express standard that is taking hold in the PC world and is anticipated to come soon to the Mac. ExpressCard uses a smaller type of card than PC Card and it will draw less power while supplying faster performance capabilities.

Update - Apple has announced ExpressCard will be added to the MacBook Pro shipping in February 2006.
