Faster Cable with DOCSIS 3.0
Cable speeds will continue to increase in speed in the future and the industry is planning for speeds as much as 1600% faster than what is being offered now. That level of performance could allow you to operate remotely at performance you might find reasonable at your office locations. It will also allow for HDTV video and a variety of other innovative technologies. It is expected we will be seeing this level of speed by the end of this decade. Currently Cable operators are supplying service over DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0 with speeds up to 6.0Mbps. Comcast has announced a speed increase for summer 2005 to 6.0Mpbs on their standard service and 8.0Mbps for the premium service.
