The biggest issue that will prevent people from being productive under Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard at this early stage after its release are printing and Acrobat. Acrobat has the workaround in that you can still create a Postscript file and run Distiller to generate a PDF. However, the other methods of generating PDFs, such as printing to a PDF, will have problems if not fail. Of equal concern is most printer drivers are not fully compatible with Leopard resulting in inability to print for many people across a wide variety of models and manufacturers from Brother to Ricoh to Epson and HP. Most of the problem printers are going to be USB or All-in-One devices. You will likely have less problems with Ethernet capable Postscript printers. Update: With Mac OS X 10.5.2 Apple appears to have resolved the printing issues and Adobe has fixed Acrobat as well with their 8.1.2 release. |
