Telework Tax Credit

The state of Georgia has allocated $2 Million to promote teleworking in areas of the state that have failed to meet Federal clean air standards. The Clean Air Campaign is providing information and help for companies that wish to initiate or expanding teleworking programs. Benefits come in three forms:
- Up to $20,000 for implementing the program
- Up to $1,200 per new Teleworker
- Financial incentives for workers who no longer are driving a daily commute

Qualifying for the Telework Tax Credit
- Applies to Teleworkers created in 2011
- Employee must show they are eliminating a daily commute, meaning they previously were traveling to and from the office daily
- Company must have a Teleworker agreement signed by the employee
- The employee must Telework at least 12 days of every month they will be Teleworking
Deadline for Qualification
To take advantage of the program you must complete a simple three page application by October 31 2010. Infrastructure upgrades and installations can begin within 2010, but any expenses directly related to individual teleworkers must happen within 2011. Qualifying expenses include:
- Improving network security
- Expanding broadband capacity
- VoIP telephony systems
- Web-based CRM and other business software
- Consulting and training expenses
- Laptops and desktops for Teleworkers
